Valerian is a tall perennial herb with grooved hollow stems bearing
large-toothed, dark green leaves. Its flowers are white, pale pink, or
reddish in colour. Valerian prefers moist soils and is often seen growing
along riverbanks. Its underground stems and roots are harvested and dried to
make healing preparations.
Significance
Valerian is valued for its many believed medicinal uses, especially as a
