Dragon Blood Resin

Botanical Scientific or Latin Name:  Dracaena cinnabari
Dracaena cinnabari is the natural resin and pharmaceutical raw material. Dragon Blood is red color resin that oozes out of dumm al akhwain tree trunks in the Socotra Island (an Island in Yemen). The sap exudes from the tree trunk as if bleeding. This resinous substance is collected and dried in the form of pure dragon blood drops and also as lumps.

Significance:
Dragons blood powder is an expensive resin used to colour fine varnishes. It helps stop bleeding and heals wounds and pain, treats diarrhea. It is also used for reinforcing the protective ink which prepares photo-engraving plates for etching and is also used in making autographic ink.
